Shakti also manifests itself in the human body as the vital life force (prana) and the energy of consciousness (kundalini).

Shakti Yoga includes meditative, body-opening practices that enhance our well-being and life force, and strengthen our conscious, loving and non-attached presence and rest in the Self. The yoga series consists of movements that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles in particular, as well as movements that open our body and support our balance. The physical exercises do not require any previous yoga experience and the body does not need to be already flexible. Each participant will be helped to find movements that support a gentle and safe opening. Shakti Yoga is also open to those with limited mobility – the key is an open mind.

Shiva is seen in the Indian yogic tradition as a spiritual consciousness that is both the ultimate essence of everything and a silent and objective “observer” of the world. By quieting our minds, we gradually come to experience this natural state of consciousness, which is unattached yet alert and interested.

Compassionate and accepting Presence is a gentle and safe way to experience our deeper being as awareness towards a gradual realisation of the ultimate oneness of all life.

Shakti yoga – in the form we teach it – has evolved over the years through intuitive inner exploration as well as spiritual study, body awareness, meditation and lived experience.
