Horse communication and nature riding
Two lovely and sensitive horses, West and Matti, live in the heartland, with whom we practice being present and working together in a conscious, relaxed and heartfelt way. The horse commune in Heartland combines the basic principle of yoga and meditation to practice consciously resting in the self, allowing us to experience a deeper connection with ourselves and others. Subconsciously, we seek this connection and authentic presence because it makes us happy. Horses sense our bodies and our emotional and mental states. When we are restfully and body-consciously present, they relax and want to be with us and are happy to follow our instructions. Horses need the experience of being safely led by humans. In previous years, Heartland has also organised courses on horses and body awareness in collaboration with in-depth horse trainer Noora Ehnqvist. With Noora’s help we have found a warm and gentle way to communicate and live with horses.
In addition to the ground-based communication exercises, Sydänmaa also offers the opportunity to practice being present on horseback in the forest trails with nature riding. However, this requires a basic knowledge of riding, or the ability to practice it in our yard, and a willingness to commit to a conscious and holistic way of working with horses. We will first practise yoga on horseback, i.e. deep breathing, pelvic floor relaxation and core control.
You are warmly welcome to communicate with the horses on your own or with a friend. We also organise equine communication retreats, where we combine yoga and meditation with exercises with horses. If you have your own horse or a horse friend with whom you would like to create a deeper relationship or help your horse to relax and enjoy doing things with you, I can also come outside the Heartland to teach equine communication with both ground and back exercises in private or in a group.
In the Heartland, horses are not seen as a hobby tool, but the aim is to strengthen the well-being of both the horse and the person.
